"Now you say you are still not reconciled to my joining the paratroopers. Would you prefer for somebody else’s son to die in the mud? You want us to win the war, but you apparently don’t want to have your sons involved in the actual bloodshed. That’s a strangely contradictory attitude.
Somebody has to get in and kill the enemy. Somebody has to be in the infantry and the paratroops. If the country all had your attitude, nobody would fight, everybody would be in the Quartermaster and the ground crew. And what kind of country would that be?
No, thanks, I’ll stay in this outfit, even if it’s the death of me. I am not interested in the Navy. I can’t get into the Air Corps or the Marines, a job in the service forces would drive me crazy, so I’m staying right here. You can’t find a better bunch of men; the Air Corps is looking for glamour, the Navy (speaking of officers) for social success, but the paratroopers just don’t give a damn. The Germans realized this when they had to fight the “big pockets” and credited the paratroops with the best fighting ability of the Americans they had to face. I’ll stay in the paratroops, so you may as well dry your tears."
— A letter from David Webster to his parents on August 6th, 1944. (via notaquaker)

LORAS WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE?

Next to a Lannister? REALLY?

You’d better have a good excuse.
